Charlie Gaisford
Charlie Gaisford, founder member of Orange Blossom Sound 

Charlie was one of the most exciting bluegrass banjo players to come out of the 60's, he played with the bluegrass band Orange Blossom Sound over a period of 25 years. Charlie died in a fishing accident in Sept 1992. 

His notable projects were ...playing on the backing track of the film 'The Man Who Fell to Earth' starring David Bowie and arranging the special effects for a Steven Speilberg film.

After Charlies' death his friends arranged a memorial concert at the Dorking Halls, in Dorking, Surrey
   
Charlie was awarded the Order of Merit from the British Bluegrass Music Association in 1992 for his contribution to Bluegrass Music in the UK

Charlie practising before the set at the Mole Valley festival in Leatherhead Surrey. Charlies' Gibson Mastertone Banjo was given to Leon Hunt (Southern Exposure, Daily Planet) when he died. Charlie was a great influence on Leon's banjo technique.
