Bluegrass in Britain, even when it displays musicianship, often lacks professionalism and presentation. The Orange Blossom Sound are not only an experienced and well balanced band; they are, in bluegrass tradition, a good act and genuinely funny. Gerry Williams' solid guitar-picking, Charlie Gaisford's brilliant banjo playing and Mike Hartes's bass each contribute but it would hardly be unfair to single out Roger Churchyards fiddle-playing as the feature which made this the most notable band at the recent Folk Voice country music festival. | |
